39 weeks...1 day

I had a doctor appointment today and she found during the exam that I am dilated 2 cm and 50% thinned out...and then she offered to strip my membranes (which can but doesn't always induce labor)...and I totally chickened out because she said it would hurt a lot and now I'm really mad at myself. I was surprised to learn that anything was going on because I hardly had any signs lately...but 2 cm doesn't mean much...could be today or could be a while. Back to waiting and I get to sit and wonder if the waiting could have been over if I hadn't chickened out.

Last day of 38th Week....

Nothing new to report unfortunately. I have an appoitment on Monday...so hopefully the doc will be able to give us good news (that Timmy is coming soon). We are just anxiously waiting to see if Timothy will make it here before my dad...otherwise he will have to wait until November to meet Grandpa Dave ..... waiting is really hard!

38 Weeks (Today!)

Well, we are soooooo ready...but I have no labor symptoms to report :( I feel good - I just get tired fast and my back hurts once in a while. I've been saying since the beginning that I wanted Timothy to be born during my 38th week...we'll see - for some reason I am terrified of going past my due date. Everything is ready, the nursery is finished and stocked, our bags are packed, we are pre-admitted to the hospital, and I've met with anestesia for the Epidural briefing....Mark is signed up for a "Daddy Class" on the 14th - but what's better than hands-on training?

We got a break in the weather - it was nice and cool all weekend - I didn't realize how much the heat was affecting me! I had 10 times more energy once it cooled down! But its supposed to get hot again tomorrow :-P

Steph moves out this week...what in the world are we going to do without her? Its going to feel really weird without her here - she has helped us sooooo much!

The Nursery :)

Timmy's airplane bedding:

This is Gidget's new favorite napping spot in the house - under the crib :)

The crib and changing table...the bed is made and the changing table is stocked...now we just wait :)

Steph & Lindsey helped me paint these stars to hang across the window:

My mom found this shelf at a thrift store and Lindsey painted it for me. The rocking chair is from Mark's parents :) Thanks guys! Mark made one of the airplanes for Timmy, and the white shoes were worn by his dad!

I made this out of picture frames and scrapbook paper - hope Timmy likes it :)

37 Weeks

This update is old too...but here's my 37 week picture:

36 Weeks

This is about 2 weeks late - sorry.

34 - 35 Weeks

34 Weeks:

35 Weeks:

Everything is pretty much going the same. We've been having temperatures above 100 degrees most days lately so that is making me feel really uncomfortable - thank God for AC! Everything looked good at my last doc appointment, and now I go in every week until Timothy is born. Hopefully I will have the time to keep you all posted every week from now on (I've been slacking lately). That's all I have for now :)

32 - 33 Weeks

Time to catch up. Technically I am almost 34 weeks, but here are the pictures from the last two weeks (you will notice a "slight" growth spurt between them!):

33 Weeks:

32 Weeks:

I've been feeling pretty much the same for the past few weeks ... T-I-R-E-D. Summer temps kicked in last week - so I've been hot, uncomfortable and had some swelling in my hands and feet. I have been really busy trying to finish up the nursery and collecting all the baby supplies lately - good thing I have my sisters here to help me because I feel like I have a little less energy every day - its like a race to get everything done before I completely run out of energy or Timothy comes! I have my 34 week doctor appointment next week, so I will let you all know how that goes and post another picture then :)

31 Weeks

Here's the 31 week picture...as you can see Timothy had a "slight" growth spurt. I've learned this week that the idea that pregnant bellies are round is a myth (as you can also see in the pic) - I think Timmy has fun seeing how lopsided he can make me look ;) I'm still feeling good but tired - who wouldn't be tired if they had to get up to go to the bathroom a minimum of 3 times a night - ugh. Everything is pretty much the same but Timmy is getting stronger every day (most mornings I wake up to what feels like running in place on my ribs) and we are getting more and more anxious for his arrival. I am also excited about the idea of not being pregnant anymore - thank God we have had such mild weather so far! :)

30 Weeks

30 weeks already...I guess time really flies when you are uncomfortable ;) I really can't complain though - I'm still feeling great physically - I'm just tired all the time. The uncomfortable part is being out of breath when Timmy decides to stretch in the direction of my lungs/ribs and when he decides he would like to use my bladder as a trampoline...ow. But really those are great things because he's moving around all the time which is what a healthy baby should be doing :) I suspect I won't have much trouble losing the baby weight because I'm betting Timothy will be super active like his dad...and have me chasing him all over in no time ;)

Glucose Lab Results

So I had a doctor appointment yesterday - and the results of the Glucose Tolerance Test came back normal! She (the doctor) said everything looks great and my pregnancy is going very well - praise God! Thanks for all your prayers! I'll have my 30 week picture up today or tomorrow.

28 & 29 Weeks

28 Weeks:

Sorry I missed this post last week - it was really hectic. I flew home from SD that week, and it took me a while to get my bearings again. This was a great week though - I felt great and Timothy did his first huge kick and it startled me and my sisters who just happened to be watching! We watched a little bump move all the way across my belly - the strength that Timothy has already amazes me :) I started following the "diet" for my Glucose Tolerance Test this week also...so more about that in the next paragraph:

29 Weeks:
Still feeling great this week - just getting tired easily. Timothy never stops moving lately either - which is fun :) As you can tell I've entered "Warp Growth-Spurt Phase" again ;) There was a morning I woke up and I really thought I had gotten bigger overnight! On Tuesday morning I went to the lab to do the Glucose Tolerance Test (it was not fun). The very first thing they did was take a urine sample, then they drew my blood. Then they gave me the most disgusting thing I've ever drank, and then I sat in the waiting area for 3 hours and they drew my blood 3 more times, once every hour. Needless to say I have some ugly bruises and I'm afraid people will think I'm a druggie and have been shooting up or something. No word yet on the results, but I have another doctor appointment next Tuesday morning - so hopefully she will be able to fill me in so I can fill you all in :)

27 Weeks

Hello all :) So this is the last week of the 2nd trimester - next week I start the final stretch (no pun intended). I have been feeling awesome - no back or belly pain at all! Just a little bit of a sharp pain in my lower abdomen every once in a while (the doc told me that was Timmy sitting on a nerve), but nothing like it was last month! I had a little trouble with my feet swelling the first few days I was out here (visiting family) but that has passed as well :)

I do have a possible (and I really want to emphasise the word possible) complication. On May 15th I did a Glucose Screening Test at the doctors (routine for all pregnant ladies). If you aren't familiar with that (I wasn't) it involves drinking a sugary soda like drink really fast and having your blood drawn an hour after to test if your body is breaking down glucose correctly. Well my results were a little high, so I get to go back to the lab as soon as I get home and do another test called a Glucose Tolerance Test. (This will most likely be on Mon, June 8). In this test you drink twice as much of the soda drink and then sit in the waiting room for 3 hours and have your blood drawn 3 times, once each hour. Sorry for the long back story and explanation - but this is all to see if I have something called Gestational Diabetes (which means having diabetes while you are pregnant). It is possible to test high on the first glucose test and then to have normal results on the tolerance test, but we'll see. I wrote all this (even though its too soon to know anything at all) to ask for your prayers leading up to my next lab. Please pray that the first lab was just a fluke and everything is normal with me and Timothy :) From what I read, the condition doesn't affect the baby much as long as you manage it (through the traditional diabetes diet and insulin if necessary) - but even so please pray that there would be no complications for mom or baby. This is getting really long so here are a couple links to give you more info:

I will post updates as soon as I get them - thanks for your prayers :)

26 Weeks

Well - I'm almost done with my 2nd trimester and I'm still feeling great compared to the other months. This past weekend we put together a swing we bought, so that is set up now too. And we started buying diapers and wipes with each grocery trip. I had a doctors appointment again last Monday and everything looks good - now I start going every 4 weeks I guess.
I'm visiting my family in South Dakota for the next couple weeks. Lindsey graduates on Sunday...Congrats Lindsey! And Happy Birthday to Steph today! Not really anything else new to report :)

24 - 25 Weeks

24 Weeks:

25 Weeks (and our 5 year wedding anniversary!):

Sorry this is late ... during my 24th week both Mark and I had the flu ... it was awful! Fevers and aches and all I could take was Tylenol and I got to watch Mark take all the good meds - no fair! Then Steph came out to visit and prepare for her move to Boise literally the day after our fevers went away - so now I need to catch up because that was fun/busy/exciting/tiring. Today we set up the baby's room with everything we have so far (crib, changing table, dresser, glider & ottoman, and hamper). We also have a play mat thing and a bouncy seat and about 10 outfits....so still have a ways to go :) It feels good to finally have a start though. We have decided on a first name also...its going to be Timothy :) I'm feeling pretty good - besides the flu I've had less aches and pains than I had been having a few weeks before. Next Wednesday I fly out to visit my family and see Lindsey graduate high school - wish me luck!

23 Weeks

Well this is my 23rd week of pregnancy. Everything has pretty much been the same for the past few weeks - just basic discomforts like back pain, round ligament pain, and a little swelling in my feet. We still don't have a name and haven't even started preparing the nursery! Why is it so much harder to pick a boy name than a girl?! One little fun thing - the baby seems to react to Mark singing/playing guitar - I was sitting in the back of church while Mark was practicing for leading worship and the baby was moving around like crazy!

22 Weeks

I don't really have anything new to report...but here is a picture :)

21 Weeks

Well I found out that I have been counting wrong - I should be adding another week each Monday NOT Sunday...so this is only a couple days late (but the pic is only one day late). These last few days have been kind of crazy. Last weekend we went to Boise two days in a row to register and get some stuff to fix up our yard - that really wiped me out I think. We registered at Baby's R Us (which was extremely overwhelming and took us like 3 hours!) and Target. We over thought everything so I spent the next couple days trying to clean up the registry online. Still no name for the baby boy either - its turning out to be harder than either of us were expecting.

We saw the doctor this past Monday and she said everything looked perfect in the ultrasound - so that was a relief & an answer to prayer! She said the baby is in the 80th percentile of weight - a little bigger than average but Mark and I are both a "little bigger than average" so I'm not surprised. Physically I've been feeling pretty good - my back hurts most of the time and if I am walking a long time my stretching belly will be pretty sore - but both go away if I take it easy. I've been getting more heartburn lately which is messing with my sleep - but I will still take all of this over morning sickness!

It's a.....

BOY! Today we found out that we are having a baby boy! To be honest it wasn't really a surprise, ever since I found out that I was pregnant I have had a feeling that the baby was a boy :) Now we just need to decide on a name and buy all of his stuff! Here are the ultrasound pictures:

20 Weeks - Half Way!

Today I am 20 weeks along...which is half way! I think I'm starting to get a feeling for where I'm headed discomfort-wise. My back has been really sore and I've been have some sciatic (sp?) nerve pain once in a while. In addition I've been having more round ligament pain - it kind of feels like I did too many sit-ups all the time. We went for a long walk today because the weather was so nice - about a mile and a half. My feet didn't get sore, so I'm thinking its mostly a footwear issue :)

The baby's kicks have been getting stronger - sometimes it even startles me! It seems like the baby is moving constantly - I don't think I've ever gone more than 30 min without feeling something (and that's only if I'm busy and moving!). The kicks can even be seen from the outside now! Only two days left until the big day...the ultrasound is this Tuesday! Please pray that everything is normal and healthy for me and the baby and that we will be able to find out the baby's gender :) I will have all the info about the ultrasound up as soon as I can on Tuesday so stay tuned!

19 Week Picture

This is my 19 week picture (well 19 weeks + 1 day to be exact). Still growing like crazy :)

19 Weeks

Sorry all - no picture today...hopefully I will have it up tomorrow. We were on the road all day and I don't really feel like posting a pic of what I look like after that so you will have to wait ;) All is well though - the baby moves around a LOT and Mark can feel it almost every day. I've had a little swelling in my feet if I am walking a lot, but it seems to go down fast too. I drink a TON of water and I hear that helps with swelling/water retention. My biggest complaint was a headache that lasted over 2 days last week - I have read that headaches can be common - yuck. Well an equal complaint with that would be my hips - I've been waking up at night and the outside of my hips will be sooooo sore. At least its just at night - from sleeping on my side and such I'm assuming. Stay posted for next week...Tuesday, April 7 is the ultrasound :)

18 Weeks

Today I am 18 weeks along...not much new to report. I'm not really having an increase in energy like everyone told me I would - I actually tire more easily than in the 1st trimester. Mark and I went put-put golfing on Friday night and were out kind of late and it took me all of Saturday to recover! My belly gets itchy from the skin stretching if I don't put lotion on every day (sometimes twice a day!) and I am still have very slight round ligament pain. The only new thing really is my feet get sore really fast - they only swell a little and usually my left foot more than my right. My back is almost always a little achy - but not too bad. I have also been much more hungry lately - which I had been warned about.
The baby is still moving enough for Mark to feel it almost every day - there are active days and not so active days. I had a mango smoothie today and the baby really started kicking after that - I don't know if it was the cold or the baby really likes mango smoothies ;)
I felt like my belly had grown a lot in the last week...but it isn't as obvious as last week - maybe it just feels heavier to me. Someone actually said I look small for how far along I am - I have no idea if that is true and I don't have anyone to compare myself to.
Well that's all that is going on - only about 2 more weeks until the next ultrasound and we can't wait!

The baby kicked Mark ;) (17 weeks & 3 days)

Yesterday morning the baby kicked pretty hard for the first time - 3 good kicks right when I woke up - "hey Mom, get out of bed already!" I only felt the little wiggles the rest of the day, but as Mark was reading some verses out of the Bible right before we went to sleep that night I had my hand on my tummy and the baby kicked it so hard that I could see my hand move! So I grabbed Mark's hand and put it there and nothing happened...so I told him to keep reading and the baby kicked him twice - that was the first time Mark was able to feel anything. I was so surprised because the doctor said we would not be able to feel the baby move from the outside until 20 weeks! I have also discovered the baby really reacts to Mark's voice. During the day I may not feel the baby move all that much - but when Mark comes home from work and is talking the baby starts wiggling a lot! Well that's all for now - hopefully I will have a new picture and post up on Sunday for 18 weeks :)

17 Weeks

Today I am 17 weeks along. Not much new to report...except as you will notice I grew a LOT in one week! The baby is about 5 inches long now (so I read) and I am still feeling him/her move every once in a while. It is still too light to feel from the outside...but Mark is anxious to feel the baby move too. My feet hurt a little quicker than usual and I am still have about the same amount of back pain (I have a feeling that doesn't go away). We are in SoCal for the next couple weeks - we drove down on Friday & Saturday - that took a little more out of me than usual also. Overall, everything is going great - just a few minor discomforts :)

16 Weeks

Well this past Sunday (Mar 8) I reached 16 weeks in my pregnancy. The most exciting update is that I have been feeling the baby move since last week. I had thought I was feeling flutters around 13/14 weeks, but I wasn't sure - but now I know I was! The funniest thing to me is that if I take a few big gulps of a cold drink, the baby always starts wiggling :) I think this baby will be very active, like Mark - because every time we've had something done at the doctor's office he/she was wiggling like crazy, and now I am feeling it a lot! My final ultrasound is scheduled for April 7 and we are soooo excited to find out if we are having a boy or a girl - I will post that with the pictures as soon as I can. So far everything has been great at doctor visits - all tests have been clear so far and the heart beat has been strong - praise God!

As far as symptoms go - I have been feeling great! No more morning sickness and I'm not tired as much as before - so things are much more enjoyable now. I'm really only having some light back pain/stiffness and sometimes a little round-ligament pain (those are the ligaments hold the uterus in place, and it can hurt as they stretch). We are going to visit Mark's family for a couple weeks (we leave this weekend) - so I'm glad I'm feeling so much better!

Awsome Tip

A friend at church gave me this awsome tip for extending the use of your pre-preggie pants. You take an elastic hair band (something everyone already has) and loop it around the the top button and through the button hole like this:
And if you wear a long shirt or one of those belly bands no one will ever know ;)

Catching Up

First of all - I am so sorry it has been so long...I'm really bad at keeping up with stuff like this. Today I am 14 weeks and 4 days along - Sunday will be 15 weeks. As you can tell, my belly really popped from 12 weeks to 14 weeks! I have been feeling sooooo much better lately. I have finally been able to stop taking Unisom at night (which made me feel blah all the time) and have only had occassional morning sickness that only lasts in the morning like it is supposed to! Now as one set of symptoms fades another set is taking hold...sore back, tired tummy muscles, headaches, and heartburn - all of which are better than the morning sickness. I think I may have felt the baby move a couple times...but it is impossible to tell yet. The baby's most recent developments (according to babycenter.com): At 12 weeks the baby had improved reflexes, at 13 weeks his/her fingerprints were formed, and at 14 weeks the baby can make facial expressions and suck his/her thumb! Right now the baby is around 3 1/2 inches long and weighs 1 1/2 ounces (about the size of a lemon). To see what the baby looks like now go to http://www.babycenter.com/fetal-development-images-14-weeks (I couldn't get this pic to load for some reason).

This is me at 12 weeks...

This is me at 14 weeks + 1 or 2 days...
Who's belly is who's? I would just like to clarify for Mark's benefit that he is pushing his belly out to try to look like mine! (Again 14 weeks + 1 or 2 days)

Thanks for being patient with me - hopefully now that I am feeling better and there is actually a change to see in the pictures I will have the motivation to keep up the blog. Thanks for all your concern and prayers :)
A side note - Mark and I and everyone we've asked totally thinks the baby is a boy...what do you think?

Ultrasound Pics!

So the doctor figured out that they were right on target with my due date: Aug 23, which makes me 9 weeks and 5 days along (every Sunday will be another week). We got to see and hear the baby's heart beat and the doctor said everything looks perfect :) The baby was wiggling and "punching" a lot during the ultrasound and had us all laughing, and when I would laugh the baby would wiggle more! There are 6 pictures so enjoy - and I will try to describe them as best I can: (the descriptions are below each picture).

This is from the front, the baby is sort of looking down, you can see to arms poking out the sides, and the legs are folded up in front of the body at the bottom.

Another one from the front (or possilbly the back?), but same idea as the first pic.

This is my favorite, the curly line at the bottom is the amb. cord, and above it to the right are 2 little feet possitioned like they are "praying." Above it is I think a fist and then the top of the baby's head (its like the baby is hiding in the shadow and you can only see what is closest to the "camera")
Another front view, most people say this one looks like an "alien" - ha ha

This one is hard to describe, the bottom curly line that looks like it might be a leg is actually the amb. cord. What you are seeing is a side "cutout" of the torso - so the round part is the belly and the thing sticking out the top is an arm. (I still don't really understand this one)

This is a profile of the baby's face, and the hand is right by the mouth so it looks like the baby is sucking its thumb ;) (the baby is facing to the left)

9 Weeks

So today I am about 9 weeks along...only about 32 more to go! Some struggles this week: I feel like I have to get to know my body all over again - it seems like my stomach only comunicates by being upset. Like if I get too hungry, it gets upset; if I eat too much, it gets upset; etc. Also, like the nurses warned me about, I get breathless easily - just doing housework or reading out loud a lot. A good change this week - I was able to look through my building collection of food magazines (they've been piling up in the mail) without feeling like I would throw up! My appetite is returning to normal - which helps in so many ways :) I am still taking Unisom every day, which keeps almost all the morning sickness away. I struggle if I don't get enough sleep and I sometimes feel a little queasy late in the evening. Be sure to check back on Friday, Jan 23 - I have my first ultrasound that day and I hope to have the baby's first picture up asap!

The following is my weekly info from babycenter.com:

How your baby's growing:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

8 Weeks (about)

So today I am around 8 weeks along and to the left is what the baby is looking like lately. I have read it is around the size of a grape or kidney bean ;) Yesterday I had my first appointment at the clinic. It was really just a meeting going over family history and general pregnancy info. The exciting thing (for me) is that today is the first day that I didn't have any morning sickness since the weekend after Christmas!!! (Hurray for Unisom!) I finally feel like myself again and can just enjoy being pregnant! The nurse I met with said my due date will be around August 23, but we will have a better idea after my first ultrasound on January 23rd (so keep checking back for the baby's first picture!)
The following is from my weekly BabyCenter.com update:
"How your baby's growing:
New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it."
